Volkswagen has announced plans to redesign its vehicles, bringing back physical buttons in response to customer feedback regarding the difficulties of using fully touch-sensitive controls.
New models will feature physical buttons for essential functions, prioritizing user convenience and returning to a more traditional control scheme. Volkswagen plans to add further physical buttons for frequently used features in the future, reducing reliance on touchscreens.
According to Kai Grünitz, Head of Development at Volkswagen, the upcoming ID.3 and ID.4 electric vehicles will showcase a completely new design language. He stated that this change represents a return to Volkswagen's design roots and its traditional strengths. Along with the redesigned exterior, the interior will also be updated, featuring a greater number of physical buttons.
Grünitz also highlighted Volkswagen's commitment to improving energy efficiency and reducing production costs in its new models. He believes these changes mark a significant step forward for the company.
