Microsoft has temporarily paused the rollout of the Windows 11 24H2 update for users who have certain Ubisoft games installed. The affected games are experiencing unresponsiveness, black screens, and other issues after the update.

Windows 11 24H2 Update Paused for Some Ubisoft Games

Affected Ubisoft Games:

  • Assassin's Creed Valhalla
  • Assassin's Creed Origins
  • Assassin's Creed Odyssey
  • Star Wars Outlaws
  • Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora

Ubisoft has released a temporary mitigation for Star Wars Outlaws to prevent crashes, though performance issues may still occur.

Microsoft has implemented a compatibility hold to prevent devices with these games from being offered the 24H2 update through Windows Update. IT administrators can track these issues using safeguard IDs 54437462 and 54580160.

Important: Microsoft advises against manually updating to 24H2 using the Windows 11 Installation Assistant or the media creation tool until the issue is resolved.

If you're already experiencing problems, the recommended workaround is to close the unresponsive game through the Task Manager. Microsoft and Ubisoft are working on a fix, and this article will be updated when a solution is available.
