4K Projector with Touchscreen for $200? Sounds Too Good To Be True

A new 4K projector with a touchscreen is being offered for just over $200, but experts are warning it's likely a scam.

A new projector, the Dongying A3, with impressive specifications including a touchscreen is currently being offered via a crowdfunding campaign for just over $200. However, experts warn that the listed features are likely too good to be true, and the project could be a scam.

4K Projector with Touchscreen for $200? Sounds Too Good To Be True

Suspiciously Low Price

The Dongying A3 is the manufacturer's first crowdfunding venture, and the incredibly low price raises red flags, given the promised specifications. The manufacturer claims a brightness of 3,000 ISO lumens and 3,750 ANSI lumens, values that are typically associated with much more expensive devices. They also claim a projection size from 40 to 450 inches, with a 450 inch diagonal being more akin to professional projectors. Other specifications include a 15,000:1 contrast ratio and a 3,840 x 2,160 native 4K resolution, which is virtually impossible at this price point.

Promised Features

The A3 supposedly features a Full HD touchscreen, Android 9 OS, an encapsulated lens to avoid dust issues, and two 10-watt speakers. It also comes with a stand that enables ceiling projection.

Buyer Beware

Potential buyers are urged to consider the financial risks of crowdfunding, particularly in this case. The extremely low price and over-the-top specifications of the Dongying A3 suggest the device will not deliver as advertised.
