Remedy Entertainment has released a new patch (version 1.27) for Alan Wake 2, primarily focused on enhancing the game's support for the PlayStation 5 Pro.
Following the PS5 Pro's launch, Digital Foundry noted that the PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution (PSSR) did not work optimally in Alan Wake 2 due to the low internal rendering resolution. Remedy has addressed this by adding new graphics options and adjustments.
PS5 Pro Enhancements in Patch 1.27
The new patch includes the following for PS5 Pro users:
- New "Balanced" Graphics Mode: Requires a 120Hz compatible display. Combines Quality mode settings (including raytracing) with Performance mode resolution, targeting 40fps.
- Adjusted Performance Mode: Slightly tweaked visual settings for a more consistent frame rate.
- Improved Raytracing: Quality and Balanced modes have adjusted raytracing settings for a less noisy image.
- PSSR Toggle: Added an option to toggle PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution (PSSR) On/Off.
General Fixes
The patch also includes the following minor fixes for PC and Xbox Series S|X:
- [The Lake House] Fixed manuscript collectibles displaying the wrong page in Saga’s Mind Place.
- [The Lake House] Fixed the "Welcome to the Lake House" video collectible missing audio.
- Minor fixes and optimizations.
Sales Performance
Alan Wake 2 was released on October 27, 2023, receiving excellent reviews. However, sales haven't been as strong, with the game selling only 1.8 million units to date and not fully recovering development and marketing costs, despite releasing two DLCs.
