The Indonesian government had imposed the ban in October, citing Apple's insufficient investment in the local economy. Negotiations between the two parties ensued, with Apple initially proposing smaller investments that were rejected by the Indonesian government.

According to Reuters, Investment Minister Rosan Roeslani confirmed the $1 billion investment plan, stating:

"We will discuss with them some more … our hope is for everything to be announced in the next week after receiving a written commitment from them."

While Apple hasn't officially commented, the agreement is expected to significantly boost the Indonesian economy and secure Apple's market access in the region.
