Ubisoft has revealed that Naoe, the ninja character in the upcoming Assassin's Creed Shadows, will be the "fastest Assassin" they've ever created. This focus on speed and stealth aims to offer players a more traditional Assassin's Creed experience.
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Jonathan Dumont, creative director of Assassin’s Creed Shadows, stated, "Naoe’s the fastest Assassin we ever made. She runs super fast, she has a lot of gadgets to keep her stealth so that she doesn't have to fight often. We wanted to satisfy that for players that come in for that ninja-Assassin game." Dumont also hinted that Naoe would have a distinctive "Naruto-like" run.
Assassin's Creed Shadows will feature two playable characters: Yasuke, a samurai with a focus on close combat, and Naoe, a stealth-focused ninja. Naoe's gameplay is intended to resemble the earlier Assassin's Creed titles, emphasizing hiding in shadows and using stealth to avoid direct confrontations.
The game is set in the Sengoku period of Japanese history and is scheduled for release on February 14, 2025.
Assassin's Creed Shadows will also incorporate stealth mechanics similar to Splinter Cell, allowing players to hide in shadowed areas and extinguish lights.
