China has reached a significant milestone in quantum computing with the introduction of the Tianyan-504, a superconducting quantum computer powered by the domestically developed 504-qubit "Xiaohong" chip. This achievement strengthens China's position in the global quantum computing race.
The Xiaohong chip was designed by the Center for Excellence in Quantum Information and Quantum Physics at the Chinese Academy of Sciences and manufactured by QuantumCTek Co., Ltd. The chip's specifications are expected to be comparable to leading international quantum computing platforms.
The Tianyan-504 will be integrated into the "Tianyan" quantum computing cloud platform, making it accessible to users worldwide. The platform, launched in November 2023, has already attracted over 12 million visits from users in over 50 countries.
China Telecom Quantum Group and QuantumCTek are collaborating to further develop quantum computers based on the Xiaohong chip.
This accomplishment builds upon China's prior advancements in quantum computing, including the Jiuzhang 2.0 (photonic quantum computer) and Zuchongzhi 2.1 (superconducting quantum computer). These achievements solidify China's claim as the only country with a quantum advantage in both photonic and superconducting quantum computing.
