A new PCIe 5.0 SSD from Zhitai, called the TiPro9000, has been tested, showing impressive read speeds of up to 14.5 GB/s. This high performance is thanks to YMTC's 5th Generation 3D NAND and a Silicon Motion SM2508 controller.
Zhitai TiPro9000: A Closer Look
The TiPro9000 2TB SSD utilizes an unmarked controller (confirmed to be the SMI SM2508), 2GB of LPDDR4X DRAM, and two 3D NAND packages. The 3D NAND uses YMTC's 5th Generation 3D TLC NAND with the Xtacking 4.0 architecture.
Performance Benchmarks
The Zhitai TiPro9000 achieved the following performance during testing:
- Sequential Read Speed: Up to 14,527 MB/s
- Sequential Write Speed: Up to 13,869 MB/s
- Random Read Speed: Up to 2M IOPS
- Random Write Speed: Up to 1.6M IOPS
The maximum sequential speeds are sustained while the SLC cache is active (around 24 seconds). After the cache is exhausted, the speeds drop to 4,000 MB/s before eventually recovering to 1,700-1,800 MB/s and then back up to 4,000 MB/s again.
Overall
The Zhitai TiPro9000 performs competitively with top-tier PCIe 5.0 x4 SSDs. The combination of the Silicon Motion SM2508 controller and YMTC's 5th Gen 3D NAND with Xtacking 4.0 contributes to its excellent performance.
Warranty
The drive comes with a five-year warranty and a TBW rating of 1,200. Pricing details are currently unknown.
