The original creators of the franchise revealed that they pitched a new installment to Electronic Arts (EA) in 2024, but the publisher declined the proposal. The closure of Visceral Games in 2017, while they were developing the Star Wars project codenamed Ragtag, put a damper on Dead Space 4 hopes. While the successful remake of the first game by Motive Studios in 2023 rekindled interest, disappointing sales figures led EA to put the IP back on hold.
