The upcoming MediaTek Dimensity 8400 is shaping up to be a powerful mid-range processor. New leaks from Digital Chat Station provide more details about its specifications, including the use of all-new ARM cores and an upgraded Immortalis GPU.
Performance and Core Configuration
The Dimensity 8400 is expected to be a 4nm chip, featuring eight cores in the following configuration:
- 1x Cortex-A725 core at 3.25GHz
- 3x Cortex-A725 cores at 3.0GHz
- 4x Cortex-A725 cores at 2.15GHz
Interestingly, while these clock speeds are slightly lower than the Dimensity 8300-Ultra, the 8400 utilizes the newer Cortex-A725 architecture across all cores, potentially offering better performance and efficiency. According to the leak, none of these cores are specifically designated as "efficiency" cores.
GPU and Benchmark Performance
The Dimensity 8400 will reportedly feature a new Immortalis-G720 MC7 GPU clocked at 1.3GHz. This GPU is expected to propel the 8400 to an AnTuTu benchmark score of around 1.8 million.
Potential Devices and Release Date
While the first Dimensity 8400-powered smartphone remains unknown, possible candidates include the Oppo Find X8S, a successor to the Redmi K70E, or the Realme Neo6 SE. The processor is projected to launch on December 23, 2024.
