F1 24 Becomes First Game to Officially Support Intel XeSS 2

F1 24's latest update adds support for Intel XeSS 2, including Frame Generation and Low Latency, though it awaits driver support from Intel.

F1 24 has received its final update of the year (v1.16), bringing several new features, including official support for Intel's XeSS 2 upscaling technology. However, the technology isn't functional yet as it requires Intel to release compatible drivers.

The patch notes confirm that XeSS 2 in F1 24 includes support for both Frame Generation (FG) and Low Latency (LL) modes. It's currently unclear whether these are mandatory components of XeSS 2 or optional features.

Intel XeSS 2 Features:

  • XeSS-SR: Super Resolution (upscaling)
  • XeSS-FG: Frame Generation
  • Xe-LL: Low Latency

Even with updated drivers, these features may not be available on all hardware. Frame Generation, in particular, will likely be limited to Intel's Battlemage and Alchemist GPUs initially, while XeSS-SR, being a cross-vendor solution, might already function on a broader range of hardware.

Intel has announced several other games slated to receive XeSS 2 support, although specific timelines are yet to be confirmed. Marvel's Rivals is a likely candidate, given its existing libraries.
