Images of an upcoming AMD B850 motherboard, the Gigabyte B850M AORUS ELITE WIFI6E ICE, have surfaced online, offering a glimpse of AMD's next generation of budget-oriented motherboards. This leak follows AMD's decision to delay the release of its affordable 800-series chipset motherboards to 2025.
The leaked images, obtained by Videocardz, reveal a motherboard with an all-white design, four DIMM slots, and prominent AORUS branding on the VRM heatsinks.
The B850 chipset is expected to offer both PCIe Gen5 and Gen4 capabilities, with Gen5 primarily for NVMe storage and Gen4 for graphics. Motherboard manufacturers will have the flexibility to dedicate Gen5 lanes to a discrete graphics card if desired. Importantly, the B850 chipset will support both memory and CPU overclocking, a key advantage over Intel's competing offerings.
AMD's B850 and B840 budget motherboards are scheduled to launch at CES 2025, providing users with more affordable options for their Ryzen 9000 series CPUs.
