Google has officially launched NotebookLM for enterprises, following a pilot program that began in October. This AI-powered note-taking and research app is now available with enhanced security and privacy features tailored for business use.
NotebookLM Plus: Enhanced for Business
NotebookLM for enterprises, known as NotebookLM Plus, provides the same core functionality as the consumer version but adds controls for access and data management. Key features include:
- Ability to upload data and files to create notebooks
- Podcast-like audio summaries (Audio Overviews)
- Search and share capabilities within organizations
- Five times more podcast summaries, notebooks, and data sources
- Customizable AI-generated responses
- Shared team notebooks with usage analytics
Integration with Agentspace
NotebookLM for enterprises is part of Agentspace, Google Cloud’s new platform for AI-powered "agents." Agentspace allows users to access tools that can analyze documents, translate files, and retrieve data from various sources. Users can launch and search for agents from a central interface and will soon be able to build custom agents using a low-code tool.
Availability and Pricing
NotebookLM Plus is available in early access via Agentspace and Google Workspace (Gemini for Workspace plan). It can also be purchased separately via Google Cloud. Starting next year, NotebookLM Plus will be included for individual users subscribed to the $20/month Google One AI Premium plan.
New Features and Redesign
NotebookLM has recently undergone a redesign, organizing tools across three panels:
- Sources: For managing imported data
- Chat: For conversational interaction with the data
- Studio: For creating study guides, briefing documents, and Audio Overviews.
Interactive Audio Overviews
A new experimental feature allows users to "join" podcast-like audio overviews, asking synthetic hosts questions and receiving personalized answers. The feature, currently in English only, is still in beta, and Google notes that responses may have some inaccuracies. It's important to fact-check all AI-generated content.
