With 2025 fast approaching, anticipation for GTA 6 continues to build. Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick recently shared his thoughts on the upcoming Grand Theft Auto title, promising an extraordinary experience that will be worth the wait.
In a video interview with Conner Mather, Zelnick stated:
"I would say I think it'll be extraordinary and worth waiting for."
Zelnick also hinted that Rockstar has prepared features and content that will surpass fan expectations. He explained that while they listen to community feedback, the biggest hits are always unexpected and original. Rockstar's focus is on innovation and delivering something new, bigger, and better than anything previously imagined.
"Our teams are focused on what's new that you haven't even thought about, like, you thought you were anticipating this thing, but this is way bigger and way better and more exciting and more beautiful than you could have possibly thought of."
GTA 5's Unexpected Success
Looking back at GTA 5 and GTA Online, Zelnick acknowledged that Take-Two never anticipated the game would become as successful as it is. He revealed that the online mode originally wasn't even planned to have virtual currency. He noted the initial launch of GTA Online had bugs and issues, but the game continued to grow into an incredible and durable success. He admitted that they never expected to sell over 200 million units.
