Heart Machine has revealed that Hyper Light Breaker, the 3D sequel to Hyper Light Drifter, will enter Early Access on Steam on January 14th, 2025. The announcement, made during the Day of the Devs: The Game Awards Edition, included a trailer showcasing the game's release date.
Co-op Open-World Roguelike
Published by Arc Games (known for titles like Torchlight, Neverwinter, and Remnant 2 ), Hyper Light Breaker is a co-op open-world roguelike. Players take on the role of a "Breaker," one of several warriors tasked with rebuilding a civilization devastated by war. The game features a procedurally generated world called the Overgrowth, filled with secrets, challenging bosses ("Crowns" controlled by the Abyss King), and intense combat.
Standalone Experience
While set in the same universe as Hyper Light Drifter, Hyper Light Breaker boasts a standalone storyline, set decades before the events of the original game. Prior experience with Hyper Light Drifter isn't required to enjoy this new title.
Post-Early Access Plans
Heart Machine plans to continue supporting Hyper Light Breaker beyond its Early Access launch. Post-launch updates will introduce new Breakers, bosses, weapons, and other content to maintain the game's freshness and replayability. The Early Access price is set at $29.99, but is subject to change based on future updates and added content.
