Ahead of its official launch, Intel's XeSS 2 software stack, including Frame Generation (FG) and Low Latency (LL) features, has reportedly leaked online. While Intel has yet to release these DLLs, they are now circulating on Nexus Mods.
The leak likely stems from a game patch in anticipation of the upcoming Arc B580 launch. The DLLs are primarily beneficial for modders and users who manually replace files. While the upscaling component should work without major issues, FG and LL require proper game developer integration.
XeSS 2 Components
- XeSS-SR (Upscaling): Works as expected. No major reported issues.
- XeSS-FG (Frame Generation): Requires game developer implementation. Reportedly only works with Battlemage and Alchemist GPUs.
- Xe-LL (Low Latency): Requires game developer implementation.
The leaked XeSS library is version 1.3.2.38 (upscaling) and 0.9.11.9 (Frame Generation). Intel hasn't detailed changes to the upscaling function in XeSS 2. It's noteworthy that despite prior statements, Intel has not open-sourced its XeSS technology; only SDKs and pre-compiled libraries are provided.
The official release of XeSS 2 is anticipated to coincide with the Arc B580 launch next week. Whether this leaked version will provide functionality similar to NVIDIA's DLSS 3 or AMD's FSR 2 remains to be seen.
