The Game Awards has unveiled a major new title – Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, a brand new sci-fi IP from Naughty Dog.
The first teaser trailer introduces Jordan A. Mun, a bounty hunter tracking a target on the dangerous planet of Sempiria. While the trailer heavily showcases Naughty Dog's cutting-edge facial animation tech, it also offers a glimpse of gameplay involving melee combat and hints at survival elements. The teaser ends with a robot enemy wielding a laser sword.
This new IP has long been rumored to be the next project for Neil Druckmann, creator of The Last of Us. A PlayStation Blog post reveals more details about Intergalactic:
"Intergalactic stars our newest protagonist, Jordan A. Mun, a dangerous bounty hunter who ends up stranded on Sempiria – a distant planet whose communication with the outside universe went dark hundreds of years ago...Jordan will have to use all her skills and wits if she hopes to be the first person in over 600 years to leave its orbit."
Naughty Dog promises an emotional, character-driven epic journey, with the "deepest gameplay" in their history. Intergalactic features Tati Gabrielle as Jordan A. Mun and a soundtrack scored by Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross.
Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet has been announced exclusively for the PS5, with no release window revealed yet.
