A leaked render of a new AMD GPU, initially dismissed as fake, has been confirmed by hardware insider Hoang Anh Phu to be the upcoming Radeon RX 9070 XT.
Accidental Reveal
The render, which appeared in an online advertisement over two weeks ago, was initially met with skepticism. However, the leak has been verified by Hoang Anh Phu, who has a strong track record with AMD hardware leaks. Phu didn't specify whether it is the AMD's reference design or a custom variant.
Unusual Timing and Placement
The timing and context of the leak were unusual. The advertisement, published in mid-November, showed the card next to Ryzen 7000 series packaging and a PC featuring a current-gen RX 7000 card. This suggests a possible marketing error by AMD, as the render doesn't seem to fit well with the context. However, it is not unusual that marketing renders focus on technologies.
The advertisement is still public, suggesting that AMD may not be trying to conceal the leak. This could be an indication that the render depicts one of the proposed reference designs. If the RX 9070 XT is indeed launching in late January, production is likely underway.
