Lego Horizon Adventures Review

Lego Horizon Adventures reimagines Horizon Zero Dawn for a younger audience. While the game captures the visual charm of the Horizon franchise, it falls short in other areas.

Lego Horizon Adventures Review

A Simplified Story

The game follows Aloy's journey to save a world overrun by robotic dinosaurs and cultists, but much of the original game's complex narrative has been simplified. While hearing the original voice cast deliver kid-friendly dialogue is a nice touch, the overly simplified plot becomes somewhat uninteresting.

Impressive Visuals, Questionable Gameplay

Lego Horizon Adventures looks stunning with its detailed Lego environments and flashy effects. The fixed isometric camera allows for impressive visuals, but hinders the ranged combat, particularly aiming at enemy weak points. Melee combat is more satisfying, but the game is clearly designed around ranged attacks.

Content and Difficulty

While the game borrows elements from the Horizon series, such as varied machines and unique weapons, the overall experience feels somewhat underbaked. The linear level design and short 7-hour campaign leave players wanting more. The game's difficulty may also surprise younger players, although co-op is available.
