LG has previewed the UltraGear OLED 45GX990A, a new bendable gaming monitor, ahead of its full reveal at CES 2025 in Las Vegas. This monitor marks the return of the bendable form factor, previously seen with Corsair's Xeneon Flex.
Bendable Design and Display
The LG UltraGear OLED 45GX990A features a 45-inch 5K2K (5120 x 2160) panel that can smoothly transition from a flat to a 900R curved monitor in seconds. This transition likely uses a motorized bending mechanism.
The monitor also boasts a 125 PPI pixel density, an RGWB subpixel layout for improved readability, and an Anti-Glare & Low Reflection (AGLR) coating. A variable refresh rate (VRR) is included, as well as support for AMD FreeSync Premium Pro and Nvidia G-SYNC for tear-free gaming with a 0.03ms GtG response time.
Unconfirmed Refresh Rate
LG has not officially announced the monitor's refresh rate. However, it's speculated that it might support a 165Hz refresh rate, requiring a DisplayPort 2.1 port with UHBR20 certification to avoid Display Stream Compression (DSC) at its 5K2K resolution.
Full details are expected to be released during the upcoming CES event.
