The Modretro Chromatic, a recreation of the Game Boy Color, claims to offer a faithful retro gaming experience with the added benefit of a backlit, sapphire-grade display. YouTuber JerryRigEverything put these claims to the test. Modretro markets the Chromatic as the "ultimate retro cartridge gaming console," compatible with Game Boy and Game Boy Color games. The screen size and resolution match the original GBC, but Modretro claims the "sapphire" screen offers superior scratch resistance. JerryRigEverything's Zach Nelson tested the display's scratch resistance, confirming it scratches at level 8, higher than the typical level 7.
