In a recent interview, Monster Hunter Now Wilds executive director and art director Kaname Fujioka discussed Capcom's hopes for the game, emphasizing its role in solidifying the franchise's place within its newfound mainstream audience.
"Seeing people become fans of the game means a lot to us...for people around the world to really understand it has really given us a lot of confidence."
Building upon the success of Monster Hunter World, Wilds aims to expand and enhance the elements that resonated with players. Fujioka stated that they are "expanding on the parts that were appreciated in World and taking it even further," hoping to turn those initially interested in World into true fans of the franchise.
Focus Mode and Deeper Gameplay
Wilds introduces Focus Mode, adding a new layer to combat. Players can target wounded monster areas for powerful Focus Strike finishers.
"Now with Focus Mode, when you notice a wound, you can aim at that wound to increase damage...[It] makes a game where your aim is constantly changing, and it's a way of playing the game in a far more detailed way."
Beyond combat, Wilds boasts enhanced environments and monster behavior, offering a richer experience for players who appreciate exploration and immersion.
"Even people who don't seem to be good at action games seem to be having fun... it really makes me appreciate the details we put into Monster Hunter which reflect that."
With Wilds marking the series' 20th anniversary, Fujioka expressed gratitude for the continued support and excitement for the future.
Monster Hunter Now Wilds launches on February 28, 2025.
