Nvidia Fixes Performance Loss in Games Caused by Nvidia App

Nvidia acknowledges a performance issue with the Nvidia App causing up to 15% frame rate loss and provides a fix involving disabling the Game Filters

Nvidia has responded to reports of significant performance drops in games caused by its new Nvidia App. The company has confirmed the issue and provided a temporary fix while a permanent solution is being developed.

According to Nvidia, the performance loss is linked to the 'Game Filters and Photo Mode' feature in the app. To restore performance, users are advised to disable this feature by navigating to Nvidia App Settings > Features > Overlay > Game Filters and Photo Mode, and then relaunch their game.

Nvidia also shared a link to a community post, reiterating this advice.

The performance hit, observed in tests, could result in an average frame rate drop of up to 15% in some games. This is a substantial loss, comparable to downgrading a graphics card.

The Nvidia App was released with the 566.14 driver update after a beta period. This shows that real-world usage can expose bugs that beta testing might miss. While some users may have avoided installing the Nvidia App, others might find its features like OSD and AV1 120fps recording useful.
