A leaked listing at an Australian retail store suggests the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5080 "Blackwell" GPU will have a starting MSRP of $1,500 or more, signaling a considerable price increase compared to its predecessor, the RTX 4080.
Significant Price Bump
According to tech YouTuber Vex, the RTX 5080 could cost up to AUD 2,544 or $1,587. This represents a major increase from the RTX 4080's MSRP of $1,199. Moreover, the actual retail price for end-users could be even higher, potentially reaching $1,739 due to the "premium tax" often applied to new GPUs during their initial launch.
This price increase is largely attributed to the integration of technologies like GDDR7 memory, which NVIDIA has acknowledged as a costly addition.
RTX 5080 Specs
The listed variant of the RTX 5080 is the ASUS DUAL model, expected to be a mid-range model. The listing also confirms that the RTX 5080 will feature 16 GB of GDDR7 VRAM operating at 32 Gbps, which is a notable increase compared to the RTX 4080's GDDR6X running at 23 Gbps and 736 GB/s of bandwidth.
The RTX 5080 will utilize the GB203 GPU core. With these specifications, the RTX 5080 is expected to provide a significant performance leap over its predecessor.
It will be interesting to see the pricing of NVIDIA's mid-range "Blackwell" GPUs, like the RTX 5070.
