The upcoming OnePlus Ace 5, an affordable alternative to the OnePlus 13, will feature bypass charging, a hardware-based feature that allows the phone to draw power directly from the charger instead of the battery. This functionality will not be available on the OnePlus 13, even via a software update.
Bypass Charging for Enhanced Gaming
Bypass charging is particularly beneficial for gaming, as it prevents battery heating and performance throttling during extended play sessions. It can also contribute to improved battery lifespan.
OnePlus claims to have optimized the Ace 5's Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor to match the performance of the Snapdragon 8 Elite. Gaming comparisons suggest the Ace 5 maintains a 120fps frame rate while consuming comparable power to Snapdragon 8 Elite devices and running cooler than other Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 phones.
OnePlus Ace 5 Specifications and Availability
The OnePlus Ace 5 is rumored to feature a 6.78-inch 1.5K BOE X2 8T LTPO display, up to 16GB of RAM, 512GB of storage, a 16MP front camera, and a 50MP+8MP+2MP triple rear camera setup. It is also expected to pack a battery larger than 6,000mAh with 100W fast charging.
A Pro version with a Snapdragon 8 Elite, upgraded cameras, and similar battery specs is also expected, but will likely remain exclusive to China. The Ace 5, however, will be released globally as the OnePlus 13R.
