In Path of Exile 2, you earn Passive Skill points with each level-up, used to enhance your character's stats on the skill tree. While skill gems define your abilities, passive skills form the core of your build along with support gems. This guide explains how to respec these points.
How to Unlock Respecing
Respeccing isn't available at the game's start. To unlock it, complete these quests:
- Reaching Clearfell
- Treacherous Ground
- Secrets In The Dark
- Sorrow Among Stones
- The Mysterious Shade
After completing "The Mysterious Shade" (around level 8), The Hooded One will be available in town. They will allow you to refund your passive skill points.
How to Refund Passive Skill Points
To respec your passive skill points:
- Talk to The Hooded One in town.
- Select the option "Refund Passives".
- Choose the passive skills you want to refund. The cost in gold depends on the number of skills refunded.
Important: You can only refund the most recently allocated passive skills. You must work backward to refund earlier skills. There's no limit on how often you can respec.
Once refunded, the points return to your passive skill tree, ready to be re-allocated. Experimenting with different passive skill combinations is highly recommended, especially when switching weapons or playstyles.
