Valve has expanded its refurbished offerings to include the Steam Deck OLED. These refurbished units are now available for purchase directly from Valve's website, offering a more affordable entry point into handheld PC gaming.
The refurbished Steam Deck OLED starts at $439 for the 512GB model (a $110 discount compared to new) and $519 for the 1TB version (a $130 discount).
Warranty and Support
Each refurbished Steam Deck OLED comes with the same one-year warranty and support as a brand-new device. Valve rigorously tests each unit, putting them through over 100 checks to ensure proper functionality. If any issues arise, Valve will provide a replacement refurbished unit.
According to Valve, the only differences between new and refurbished units are cosmetic. However, potential buyers should be aware of the possibility of stick drift, a common issue with controllers.
Repairability
Fortunately, the Steam Deck is highly repairable. Spare parts and detailed repair guides are available from iFixit, making it easy to address any hardware problems that may arise.
With no Steam Deck 2 on the horizon, the refurbished Steam Deck OLED presents a compelling option for budget-conscious gamers. While it may not handle every new AAA title flawlessly, it can provide years of enjoyment with a vast library of less demanding games.
