Samsung has confirmed that DeX for PC on Windows will be discontinued with the rollout of One UI 7, the company's Android 15-based update for Galaxy smartphones. Users are encouraged to use the built-in Link to Windows feature as a replacement.
DeX for PC provided a convenient way to access Galaxy phones on a PC, enabling seamless file transfers. However, with One UI 7, Samsung will no longer officially support this feature. The information comes directly from the official DeX page on Samsung's UK website.
Samsung recommends using Link to Windows as an alternative, which offers similar functionality for accessing phone files and transferring data between devices. They also provide a helpful guide on using Link to Windows with Galaxy phones. Importantly, only DeX for PC on Windows is being discontinued. Standalone DeX mode, which transforms compatible Galaxy phones into a desktop-like experience when connected to an external display, will continue to be supported in One UI 7.
This isn’t the only feature losing support in One UI 7. Samsung has also confirmed that downloading third-party edge panels will no longer be possible. The stable version of One UI 7 is expected to arrive after the Galaxy S25 series launch, with a public beta likely rolling out in December.
