The upcoming Samsung Galaxy S25 series, including the S25, S25+, and S25 Ultra, is rumored to support the Qi2 wireless charging standard. This would make them the first Android phones after the HMD Skyline to adopt this technology, potentially bringing MagSafe-like magnetic accessory compatibility to the Android ecosystem.
Currently, the HMD Skyline utilizes Qi2 for 15W wireless charging and magnetic attachment of accessories. However, major Android manufacturers like Samsung and Google have been hesitant to adopt the Apple-developed standard, preferring to develop their own solutions.
According to a leak from reliable source Ice Universe, shared via @Jukanlosreve on X (formerly Twitter), the Galaxy S25 lineup will support Qi2. However, the extent of this support is unclear. Qi2 includes optional features like Extended Power Profile (EPP) for 15W charging and Magnetic Power Profile (MPP) for magnetic accessories. If Samsung implements MPP, users could attach magnetic power banks, camera grips, wallets, and chargers to their Galaxy S25 devices.
Interestingly, the Samsung Galaxy Ring’s charging case is already Qi2 certified, although it currently lacks magnets and fast charging.
