The release was a complete surprise, with no prior announcement or release date. The remastered version is available on Steam in Russia, although unfortunately, it lacks Russian language support.

The original The Thing, released in 2002, received a lukewarm reception due to its gameplay and story. However, it has since gained a cult following among fans of the film. Nightdive Studios has not only improved the graphics but also addressed some of the original's design flaws, including the clunky mechanic that forced healthy teammates to transform into monsters for plot purposes.
