At its Future Lens 2024 conference, TECNO unveiled three innovative mobile photography technologies aimed at improving image processing, capturing fast-moving subjects, and enhancing zoom capabilities.
Future Lens 2024 marks TECNO's fourth annual conference dedicated to image processing and the integration of new technologies into mobile cameras. This year's event took place in Chongqing, China.
TECNO Image Matrix
The first innovation is the TECNO Image Matrix, a system optimizing smartphone resources for faster and higher-quality image processing using artificial intelligence. Based on optimized data flow with the new TAPS (TECNO Algorithm Process Stack) architecture, it aims to significantly enhance shooting quality and speed.
The TECNO Image Matrix has four main processing layers:
- Software Layer: Includes key image processing blocks: camera, display, processor and sensor.
- Deconstruction Layer: Features 10 core algorithms including noise reduction, image stabilization and correction.
- Reconstruction Layer: Utilizes the TAPS AI core with four key AI engines:
- AI RAW: Improves low-light and backlight shots, increasing clarity and sharpness.
- AI SNAP: Enables instantaneous capture of moving subjects.
- AIGC Studio: Tools for image enhancement and generation.
- AI UT (Universal Tone): Automatically restores and improves skin tones.
EVS Dynamic Snapshot
EVS Dynamic Snapshot enables clear photographs of moving objects. Unlike traditional cameras that capture pixels frame by frame, TECNO's technology tracks the entire trajectory of a moving object. It uses a visual event sensor to focus exclusively on moving objects, using EVS pixels to record motion data. AI algorithms combine static objects captured with the RGB camera with moving objects detected by the EVS, eliminating motion blur.
Tap Any Zoom Dual Prism Telephoto
The Tap Any Zoom Dual Prism Telephoto technology addresses key challenges in mobile photography: focusing difficulties, frequent image blurring, and lack of framing options. It uses a dual periscope prism design, lens-shift optical image stabilization, and AI algorithms.
To activate the technology, users simply double-tap the subject to instantly zoom to the optimal level for a clear shot (up to 30x). The dual-periscope prism telephoto lens provides a 14x zoom compared to a standard 125mm lens. Furthermore, the Telephoto Sweep feature generates full-frame shots without distortion allowing for multiple crops without loss of quality.
These new technologies will be implemented in future TECNO devices.
