Tesla Giga Berlin Water Contract Draft Finalized

After lengthy negotiations, a draft water contract between Tesla's Giga Berlin and the Strauberg-Erkner Water Association (WSE) has been completed.

After a year and a half of negotiations, the Strauberg-Erkner Water Association (WSE) has finalized a draft water contract for Tesla's Giga Berlin factory. This development comes after protracted discussions and protests from local environmental activists concerning the factory's water usage.

Tesla Giga Berlin Water Contract Draft Finalized

The WSE, a regional water supplier and wastewater services provider in Germany, has been working with Tesla to establish the terms of the water supply agreement. The draft contract reportedly stipulates a lower water supply for Tesla and introduces new wastewater handling regulations.

While the specific terms remain undisclosed, WSE chairman Thomas Krieger hopes for a positive response from Tesla before Christmas. Further negotiations are possible if Tesla requests adjustments, which is likely given their reported lack of involvement in the final draft revisions. Tesla has successfully reduced its water consumption through efficient wastewater treatment, but the resulting highly concentrated effluent poses challenges for disposal through WSE’s network.
