Tesla's NACS Connector Set to Become Federal EV Charging Standard

With increasing numbers of automakers adopting the North American Charging Standard (NACS) connector for their electric vehicles, Tesla's technology is poised to become the de facto charging standard in the United States. This move is further solidified by recent statements from the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA). During a keynote address at the Merge 2024 event, Kristin White, Acting Administrator of the FHWA, indicated that the J3400 connector and port combo (the open-source equivalent of NACS) is set to become the federal standard. This announcement comes shortly after SAE International certified J3400 for use by all.
