CD Projekt RED has unveiled the first trailer for The Witcher IV at The Game Awards 2024, showcasing Cirilla Fiona Riannon as the main character. This ambitious new installment in the franchise is set to explore what it truly means to become a witcher.
The trailer featured a pre-rendered cinematic, likely running on an unreleased GeForce RTX graphics card (potentially the rumored RTX 5090). It depicted a classic Witcher-style quest where a young woman is about to be sacrificed to a monster, only for Ciri to intervene and save her – or so it seemed. Ciri returns to find the girl dead, revealing that the real monsters are often human, not supernatural beings.
Ciri as the Main Protagonist
Sebastian Kalemba, Game Director on The Witcher IV, shared details about the game's narrative:
"We're kicking off a brand-new Witcher saga, this time with Ciri as the heart of the story! In this game we want to explore what it means to truly become a witcher by following Ciri on her Path."
The trailer was crafted using in-game assets and models, providing a cinematic glimpse of the game's intended experience.
The game is currently in full production, with a potential release window within the next couple of years.
