As 2024 draws to a close, Valve has published its annual list of the 100 most-played games on Steam. The titles are divided into four subcategories based on peak player counts: Platinum, Gold, Silver, and Bronze.
Sub-Categories
The top 100 games are divided into these sub-categories, with the main differentiating factor being peak player count:
- Platinum: Games ranking from 1st to 12th with peak player counts over 450,000.
- Gold: Games ranking from 13th to 24th with peak player counts over 200,000.
- Silver: Games ranking from 25th to 50th with peak player counts over 100,000.
- Bronze: Games ranking from 51st to 100th with peak player counts over 50,000.
Platinum Tier Examples

- Path of Exile 2: "Very Positive" rating with over 67,000 player reviews, currently priced at $29.99 on Steam.
- Apex Legends: Free-to-play with a "Mixed" rating and over 970,000 player reviews.
Gold Tier Examples
Here are some of the games that reached the Gold tier:
- Stardew Valley: "Overwhelmingly Positive" rating with over 706,000 player reviews, currently priced at $8.99 on Steam.
- Call of Duty: Black Ops 6: "Mixed" rating with over 8,000 player reviews, currently priced at $52.49 on Steam.
- Path of Exile: Free-to-play with a "Very Positive" rating with 230,000 player reviews.

- Last Epoch: "Mostly Positive" rating with 90,000 player reviews, currently priced at $27.99 on Steam.
