While the developers of Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine II have only just announced a mod editor, modders are already hard at work transforming the game. One such mod introduces a first-person perspective, turning it into a Quake-like experience.
A modder known as unreal_dev has created a first-person camera mod for Space Marine II. In a Reddit post, they showcased the modified gameplay, demonstrating how the game becomes a full-fledged shooter from this new perspective. To prevent motion sickness during melee combat and special moves, the camera smoothly transitions to an over-the-shoulder view for attacks and combos.
The mod has impressed many gamers, eliciting comments such as:
"Melee hits in first person will be hilariously unbearable with all the combos."
"I'll probably throw up as soon as I have to dodge roll."
"Looks great! Old Quake vibes."
"Needs more work on the mod, but the concept is cool."
"I doubt I'll play this myself, but it's just incredible what you've managed to achieve in modding this game! And the authors haven't even released the tools yet."
In November, the developers of Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine II announced a ban on using mods in public multiplayer matches. However, they also announced the development of official modding tools, though a release date remains unknown.
