X Gets Faster Grok Model and New Grok Button

xAI has rolled out an upgraded Grok 2 chatbot on X, featuring faster speeds, improved accuracy, and a new 'Grok button.

Despite an ongoing lawsuit with OpenAI, Elon Musk's xAI is continuing to develop and release new features. On Friday night, xAI announced an upgraded version of its Grok 2 chatbot model for all users on X (formerly Twitter).

Enhanced Grok 2 Model

The enhanced Grok 2 model is reportedly "three times faster" and offers "improved accuracy, instruction-following, and multi-lingual capabilities," according to xAI. The upgraded model is now available to all users on X.

Free users on X are limited to ten questions every two hours with Grok, while X Premium and Premium+ subscribers have higher usage limits.

New "Grok Button"

X has also introduced a new "Grok button" designed to help users:

  • Discover relevant context
  • Understand real-time events
  • Dive deeper into trending discussions

xAI Enterprise API Updates

xAI has also updated its enterprise API, offering:

  • New, more efficient Grok models with improved multilingual performance.
  • Reduced pricing from $5 per million input tokens and $15 per million output tokens to $2 per million input tokens and $10 per million output tokens.

In the coming weeks, xAI's Aurora image generation model will be integrated into the API, extending its capabilities beyond text and including image AI to the existing Grok chat experience on X.
