Dell has announced a range of new Alienware products at CES 2025, including a redesigned Area-51 gaming desktop, new Area-51 gaming laptops, and the AW2725Q QD-OLED monitor.
Alienware Area-51 Gaming Desktop: Standardized Design, Sort Of
The redesigned Alienware Area-51 desktop aims for a more DIY-friendly approach with a standard ATX design, though with some caveats:
- Custom ATX motherboard (with the need for AlienFX harness for third-party replacements)
- Dual 180 mm front intake and dual/triple 120 mm top intake fans
- 1500W 80 Plus Platinum or 850W 80 Plus Gold ATX12VO PSU
- 360 mm or 240 mm liquid cooler (space for up to 420 mm)
- Up to 64GB DDR5-6400 RAM (dual-channel)
- Up to Intel Core Ultra 9 285K CPU
- Up to 8TB PCIe SSD storage (dual 4 TB SSDs)
- Nvidia GeForce RTX 5080 GPU (initially)
Priced at $4,499 for a "high-end" configuration, the Area-51 desktop is expected to launch in late Q1 2025.
Alienware Area-51 Gaming Laptops: Resurrected Series with Arrow Lake-HX
Dell is reviving the Area-51 brand for its gaming laptops, succeeding the m16 and m18 models:
- Available in 16-inch and 18-inch sizes
- Intel Arrow Lake-HX (Core Ultra 7 255HX and Ultra 9 275HX) CPU options
- Nvidia RTX 50 series GPUs
- QHD+ (2560 x 1600) 500 nits 300Hz G-Sync display
- Up to an 8MP webcam, CherryMX ultra-low profile mechanical keyboard, AlienFX touchpad, up to 11-phase VRMs, and Wi-Fi 7
- Up to 32GB DDR5-7200 XMP or 64GB DDR5-6400 RAM
The new Alienware laptops will be available in select configurations for a launch price of $3,199, with entry-level configuration starting from $1,999 in Q1 2025.
Alienware AW2725Q QD-OLED Gaming Monitor
The new AW2725Q monitor features:
- 27-inch 4K (3840x2160) QD-OLED panel with 240Hz refresh rate
- 0.03ms GtG Response Time
- 99% DCI-P3 color coverage
- Peak brightness of 250 nits (SDR) and 1000 nits (HDR)
- VESA DisplayHDR True Black 400 certified with Dolby Vision HDR
- AMD FreeSync Premium Pro and Nvidia G-SYNC certifications
- Two HDMI 2.1 ports, five-port USB hub, one USB-C (15W, 5Gbps), and one DisplayPort 1.4 connection
The Alienware AW2725Q will be available in North America in March for $899.99 USD.
