While AMD has yet to announce official pricing for its new flagship Ryzen processors, it has shared details about their gaming performance. According to AMD's Product and Business Development Manager, Martijn Boonstra, the new Ryzen 9 9950X3D and Ryzen 9 9900X3D will offer gaming capabilities comparable to the Ryzen 7 9800X3D, which AMD considers the best CPU for gaming on the market.
Gaming Performance Insights
“Some games will run slightly better, others slightly worse. But overall, the overall experience will be comparable,” stated Boonstra. He clarified that games requiring more cores and threads will likely see a slight advantage, while others may perform better on configurations with a single CCD (core complex die).
Raw Processing Power
In terms of raw processing power, the new processors are expected to outperform their predecessors due to more advanced base specifications:
Processor | Cores | Boost Clock | Total Cache (L2+L3) |
---|---|---|---|
AMD Ryzen 9 9950X3D | 16 | Up to 5.7 GHz | 144 MB |
AMD Ryzen 9 9900X3D | 12 | Up to 5.5 GHz | 140 MB |
Content Creation Capabilities
AMD also asserts that the new processors will outperform flagship Intel chips in content creation applications. The Ryzen 9 9950X3D is projected to be approximately 10% faster than the Intel Core Ultra 9 285K when working in Photoshop.
Potential Pricing
Rumored retail prices for the Ryzen 9 9950X3D and 9900X3D are $729 and $629 respectively. However, official pricing has yet to be confirmed by AMD.
