AMD Ryzen 5 7400F: Affordable Zen 4 CPU Launches in China

AMD quietly launches the Ryzen 5 7400F, a budget-friendly Zen 4 CPU with 6 cores and 12 threads, priced at around $116 in China.

AMD has quietly released the Ryzen 5 7400F in China, adding another option to its growing lineup of Zen 4 CPUs. This new processor is priced at CNY 849 (approximately $116 USD), making it one of the most budget-friendly Zen 4 offerings from AMD.

Key Specifications of the Ryzen 5 7400F

The Ryzen 5 7400F features a 6-core, 12-thread configuration, similar to the Ryzen 5 7500F. However, the 7400F has a slightly lower boost clock speed of 4.7 GHz, compared to the 5.0 GHz of the 7500F. The base clock remains identical for both CPUs. A key feature of this processor is that it does not come with an integrated GPU (iGPU), requiring a discrete GPU for systems using it. AMD is primarily targeting OEMs and system integrators with this model.

Performance and Market Positioning

The Ryzen 5 7400F is expected to offer performance close to the Ryzen 5 7500F. The slightly lower boost clock speed is expected to result in slightly lower benchmark scores than the 7500F. However, the 7400F should offer a compelling price-to-performance ratio, making it a viable alternative to the more expensive Ryzen 5 7600 and 7600X.

Global Availability

While the Ryzen 5 7400F is currently only available in China, AMD has confirmed that it will be released internationally. The global pricing is not yet available, but it is unlikely to exceed $150.
