According to Bloomberg analyst Mark Gurman, Apple has a packed 2025, with significant updates planned across its entire product line. From new iPhones and iPads to Macs and wearables, here’s a breakdown of what to expect based on Gurman's latest predictions.
Early 2025: iPhone SE Redesign and M4 MacBook Air
Apple's 2025 is set to kick off with a redesigned iPhone SE, potentially named "iPhone 16E." This model, based on the iPhone 14 design, will feature Face ID and Apple Intelligence support. Also expected in the first quarter or shortly after are the 13-inch and 15-inch MacBook Air models, powered by the Apple M4 chip. Additionally, new entry-level iPads with the Apple A17 Pro chip and 8GB of RAM are also anticipated.
Spring Updates: iPad Air, Magic Keyboards, and More
Spring is slated to bring new iPad Magic Keyboards and a refresh to the iPad Air lineup. The new iPad Air models are also expected to receive the Apple M4 chip, bringing them closer to the performance of the iPad Pro. Gurman expects four iPad Air models: J607, J608, J637, and J638. While the iPad Pro is not expected to be updated until the release of the Apple M5 in late 2025 or early 2026.
Mid-Year: M4 Mac Studio and AirTags 2
The first half of 2025 should also see the release of an upgraded Mac Studio, based on the M4 Max or M4 Ultra chip. This will place it ahead of the Mac Mini, which is anticipated to feature an M4 Pro chip. The long-awaited AirTags 2 is also likely to debut after the spring announcements.
September: iPhone 17 Lineup and Apple Watch Refresh
September will be a busy month with the launch of the iPhone 17 lineup, which may include a thin "iPhone Air" variant. This model will likely feature Apple’s first in-house modem and the Apple A19 chip. The iPhone 17 Air may have a single-lens camera setup to maintain the thin profile. The Apple Watch is also expected to see some changes, with a full redesign for the Apple Watch SE and new hardware upgrades for the Apple Watch Series 11 and Apple Watch Ultra 3. This includes 5G RedCap and satellite connectivity for the Ultra, and blood pressure monitoring for both the Watch Series 11 and Ultra 3.
Second Half: HomePod mini, Apple TV, and Smart Home
The second half of 2025 is also expected to bring updates to products such as the HomePod mini and the Apple TV Box. A cheaper, slimmed down version of the Apple Vision Pro is also likely. While a full refresh of the Apple Vision Pro is not expected until 2026, an updated smart home tablet with improved Siri is also anticipated in the second half of the year, or potentially early 2026, alongside a Face ID doorbell.
