BTF 3.0 Standard Aims to Eliminate PC Cables

DIY-APE introduces BTF 3.0, a new standard designed to eliminate cables between PC components, including the PSU, motherboard, and graphics card.

The DIY-APE team has introduced the third version of its BTF standard, designed to eliminate the need for cables between a PC's power supply, motherboard, and graphics card, even in high-performance gaming builds.

BTF 3.0 Standard Aims to Eliminate PC Cables

BTF 3.0-compliant motherboards will feature a single 50-pin connector that replaces traditional dual 8-pin EPS connectors for the CPU and the 24-pin connector for motherboard power. Developers claim this single connector can deliver up to 1500W of power. They tested the standard using a prototype Colorful Z890 motherboard and an ASUS RTX 4070 12G-BTF graphics card with a hidden GC-HPWR connector.

The only components that still require cables with the new standard are the PC control panel, cooling system fans, and SATA drives. BTF 3.0 aims to simplify PC building for beginners by reducing the risk of incorrect connections. However, it requires using components specifically designed for the new standard.
