Counterpoint Research data reveals the following smartphone market share percentages for 2024:
- Samsung: 19%
- Apple: 18%
- Xiaomi: 14%
While Samsung leads in total market share, the report highlights that Xiaomi experienced a 1% year-over-year growth. Apple and Samsung both saw their market share shrink compared to 2023.

Xiaomi's growth is particularly impressive because the brand has a minimal presence in the US market. Counterpoint analysts suggest that Xiaomi's success can be attributed to its entry into the premium smartphone segment and its innovative marketing strategies.
Generative AI in Smartphones
The report also delves into the future of artificial intelligence in smartphones, predicting that generative AI will become a standard feature not only in flagship devices but also in mid-range models. By 2028, Counterpoint expects that nine out of ten smartphones priced under $250 will feature hardware supporting AI capabilities.
