In the wake of Steam's success, many publishers launched their own launchers, hoping to avoid paying commission to Valve. One such venture has recently come to an end. EA has announced the official closure of its Origin launcher.
Origin's Closure and Transition to EA App
The EA Origin launcher, launched in 2011, will officially close on April 17th, after more than thirteen years of operation. The closure is due to Microsoft no longer supporting 32-bit programs. However, the newer EA App will continue to operate, and all purchases will automatically be transferred to it.
EA's Recent Developments
In other recent news, Electronic Arts released a patch for The Sims 3 for the first time in nine years, fixing the game's compatibility issues with Intel processors. Meanwhile, progress on the new Battlefield game appears to be slow.
