ECS has prematurely announced the first laptop featuring AMD's upcoming "Krackan" APU. The ECS UP42KP, a 14-inch laptop, is set to debut at CES 2025, showcasing the new mid-range APU.
AMD Krackan APU Details
The AMD "Krackan" APU, officially known as the Ryzen AI 350/340 series, will feature:
- 8 Zen 5(c) CPU cores
- RDNA 3.5 integrated graphics
- XDNA2 NPU for AI processing
- 40 TOPS performance for the NPU
- TDP range of 15W to 54W
ECS UP42KP Laptop Specifications
The ECS UP42KP laptop includes the following key features:
- 14-inch display
- DDR5-5600 memory
- 16 PCIe lanes for enhanced performance
- Targeted at the mainstream mid-range market
The use of standard DDR5-5600 memory (as opposed to LPDDR5X) is noteworthy as it will likely reduce costs and allow users to upgrade. ECS has confirmed that the APU will have a TDP range of 15W to 54W, similar to the existing Ryzen AI 300 “Strix Point” series.
