A new Grand Theft Auto V mod, called the Liberty City Preservation Project, has been released, offering a highly detailed and accurate recreation of Grand Theft Auto IV's Liberty City.
Key Features of the Mod
The mod is more than just a map import. It includes:
- NPCs, vehicles, and sound effects from GTA IV
- A fully functional subway system
- An accurate map and radar
- Radio stations from the original game
- Optional HD texture pack for improved visuals
While other mods have attempted to recreate Liberty City, the Liberty City Preservation Project is the most ambitious and complete to date, offering an experience that feels very similar to playing Grand Theft Auto IV.
Future Development
According to an interview on Rockstar Intel, the development team plans to:
- Restore most of the interiors to be identical to GTA IV
- Add destructible props
- Completely redo vertex paintings for improved visuals
The team also plans on beginning a similar mod project for other classic game maps once the Liberty City recreation is finished.
