A recent leak suggests that Huawei is developing a successor to its innovative tri-fold smartphone, the Mate XT, and that the new device will likely be powered by the Kirin 9020 chipset.
Kirin 9020 Chipset
Tipster Fixed Focus Digital on Weibo indicates that the second-generation tri-fold phone will feature the Kirin 9020, an upgrade from the Kirin 9010 used in the original Mate XT. The Kirin 9020 is a 12-core processor built on a 7nm process with a Maleoon 920 GPU clocked at 840MHz.
Performance-wise, the Kirin 9020's single-core performance is reportedly between the Snapdragon 888+ and Snapdragon 7+ Gen 2, with multi-core performance comparable to the Dimensity 8300 and Dimensity 9200 chipsets. While not as powerful as the latest flagship chips from Qualcomm and MediaTek, this is still an improvement over its predecessor.
Release Information
There is no official release date yet, but considering the Mate XT launched in September, we can expect a similar launch timeframe for its successor.
