During the recent Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio Direct, the developer revealed exciting new details about Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii. The game's naval combat mechanics, in particular, have garnered significant attention, with some fans noting that they look even more detailed than those in Ubisoft’s naval-focused title, Skull and Bones.
Deep Naval Combat and Ship Customization
Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii promises a deep naval combat experience. Players will be able to:
- Fully customize their pirate ship, the Goromaru, including the hull, armor, sails, and figurehead.
- Hire a crew from a roster of over a hundred sailors, each with unique attributes.
- Improve crew members through bonding activities such as song, drink, and adventure.
- Strategically assign crew members to attack and defense operations.
Cannon Upgrades and Boarding
As expected, cannon usage is a major part of combat, with some over-the-top options such as:
- Energy cannons
- Laser cannons
- ‘Shark cannons’
Boarding is also a key feature, letting players engage in intense melee combat on enemy ships.
