MediaTek and Google have partnered to develop the new Filogic MT7903 chip, designed for use in Google Home products and aimed at promoting the adoption of the Thread networking protocol.
Key Features of the Filogic MT7903
The Filogic MT7903 supports multiple wireless communication standards, including:
- Tri-band Wi-Fi 6E
- Bluetooth 6
- Thread
In addition, the chip is designed to support the Matter protocol, which enables quick connections between smart home devices from different brands.
Thread Border Router Offload
A key feature of the Filogic MT7903 is its Thread border router offload functionality. This allows the System-on-Chip (SoC) to enter low-power sleep mode without interrupting communication with devices within the home ecosystem. This will improve energy efficiency for devices using the chip.
Availability
Google anticipates that the first products incorporating the MT7903 chip will become available in the first half of 2025.
