New 4K gameplay footage of the highly anticipated Monster Hunter Wilds has been released, offering a fresh look at the game ahead of its launch next month on PC and consoles. The footage highlights improved performance over the open beta and introduces new areas and monsters.
New 4K Footage Showcases Oilwell Basin
Shared online by IGN, the new 4K footage focuses on Ajarakan and Rompopolo, two monsters that will inhabit the Oilwell Basin. This area had been previously announced but never showcased in detail, so this footage offers a first in-depth look. Along with demonstrating these challenging new monsters, the video also reveals improved performance compared to the open beta from last October.
Performance Improvements
While the exact version used to capture the footage hasn't been disclosed, the performance improvements are clearly visible. This is good news for players concerned about the optimization of the game. It is important to note however, that the performance seen in this new footage will not be present in the second open beta.
Second Open Beta
A second open beta, identical to the first but with added content, is scheduled for the first two weeks of February. This new beta test will add some content but unfortunately won’t have the performance improvements seen in the new footage. It will include the returning monster, Gypceros.
Launch Date
Monster Hunter Wilds will be released on February 28th for PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and Xbox Series S. The game is one of the most anticipated titles of the year.
